Hagbourne Pre-school Staff - Meet the Team

    Sheila Bayliss – Early Years Manager

Sheila joined Hagbourne Pre-school in 1985 as an assistant and is now our extremely able Play Leader. She is married with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and visiting the coast.

She has an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development and has trained in special needs, enabling her to work as SENCO. Sheila is also the designated child protection officer within the group. During her time at pre-school, Sheila has attended many training courses and has kept up-to-date with the Foundation Stage curriculum, child development and observations as well as paediatric first aid.

Sheila says the most rewarding part of her job is watching the children develop during their time at pre-school.

Sheila is the Key Person for the Blue Group.

    Sharon Ford – Early Years Assistant

Sharon joined Hagbourne Pre-school in September 2009. She is married and has a child who attended pre-school and Hagbourne Primary School.

Sharon worked in the travel industry for 20 years before taking 5 years off being a full time mother. Whilst her child attended Hagbourne Pre-school she was a Committee member before joining as a member of staff.

Sharon holds a paediatric First Aid Certificate and gained her NVQ 3 child care learning and development at Abingdon College.

In her spare time she loves to travel, play sports, go to theme parks and spend time with friends and family. She enjoys challenging herself to solving logic problems and puzzle books and has recently rediscovered the delights of camping.

Sharon is the Key Person for the Purple Group.

    Victoria Crook – Early Years Assistant

Victoria joined Hagbourne Pre-School in September 2014. She has lived in East Hagbourne most of her life, attending Hagbourne Primary School from the age of 6 and later married at St Andrew’s Church, in the village.

She has been associated with Pre-school since 2001, with all 5 of her children attending this Pre-school. During this time she was a committee member and held the post of Treasurer for 2 years.

Victoria has completed her level 2 and 3 NVQ, a First Aid and Safe Guarding Certificate.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, walking and baking, as well as watching her children at all the various clubs and events they are involved with, including getting up at 5am four times a week to take her eldest son to Oxford and Slough ice rinks!

Victoria is the Key Person for the Red Group.

Elisha Sear – Assistant

Elisha lives in East Hagbourne with her husband and two children; Jamie who is 5 and Sophie who is 1.

She joined Hagbourne Pre-school in 2013.

Her interests are meeting up with friends, spending time on days out with her family, cooking and arts & crafts.

    Julie Higgins – Early Years Deputy Manager

Julie joined Hagbourne Pre-school in 1998 as a play assistant and is now deputy Play Leader. She is married with two children, both of whom attended pre-school in their early years.

Julie has gained her NVQ Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Learning and Development and has attended many courses over the years to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in childcare, including first aid. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and going to the theatre.

Julie says the best things about her job are meeting new children, supporting them and their families and watching as they grow in confidence during their time at pre-school.

Julie is the Key Person for the Yellow Group.

    Helena Cuddon – Early Years Assistant

Helena joined Hagbourne Pre school in January 2015 and before that she worked in holiday parks and hotels abroad as a singer. Helena has a little girl who decided to arrive on Christmas Day.

She currently holds NVQ Level 3 in early years and L3 in afterschool Club, as well as having a degree in Musical Theatre.

Helena loves running and long walks in her spare time as well as performing with her stage group.

Helena is the Key Person for the Orange Group.

Pennie Griffiths – Trainee and Assistant

Pennie has 4 children, two of which attended the preschool and now go to Hagbourne Primary School.

When her children moved up to Primary she decided to complete her CACHE Level 2 Early Years, something which the Pre-school helped with by offering her a placement in September 2014. She passed in May 2015 and has held a permemnt possitition at the pre-school since then.

She also holds a Paediatric first aid certificate and a national rescue award.

Pennie's hobbies are reading, football and watching her children play rugby, cheerleading and Irish dancing.
